Junghans supplied the company Bulova with the wrist alarm caliber Junghans J89. The watches were intended for the American market so the cases are provided with so-called crab-lugs as this corresponded to the prevailing taste there.
In addition to the watches supplied for Bulova watches have been manufactured for the American outfitter Abercrombie & Fitch. The movements are equipped only with 17 jewels not as the original movement with 20 jewels. Probably for watches that had more jewels an increased duty had to be paid upon importation. The 17-jeweled movement got the suffix -2 and thus became Junghans J89-2.
The watches produced for Bulova wear the imprint BULOVA Wrist Alarm on dial and the most wear GERMANY under the 6. The caliber Bulova was internally called "12 B".
Junghans-vintage.de shows three Bulova / Junghans watches and a service manual of the movement which has kindly provided by the collector Andreas D.. Thank you so much!
