A little information about a watch that clips Junghans:

In 1900, the companies Thomas Haller and Gebrüder Junghans merged and founded the „Vereinigte Uhrenfabriken Gebrüder Junghans & Thomas Haller AG, Schramberg“ (United watch factories Gebrüder Junghans & Thomas Haller AG , Schramberg). In this period Junghans was interested in companies that already have expertise in the production of inexpensive, mass-produced pin-lever pocket watches. However, Junghans launched in Schramberg its own production of pocket watches trying to subordinate the Schwenninger part of the firm, which was originally assigned to Thomas Haller. That displeased Thomas Haller. In 1902, the two companies but separated (oral) again. This step was legally effected but only in the year 1911.

His son, Thomas Ernst Haller founded in the same year (1902) in Schwenningen a new company. His father also went into this company in 1904. The new company operated under the name „Thomas Ernst Haller A.G., Uhrenfabriken Schwenningen am Neckar, Württemberg“ ("Thomas Ernst Haller A.G., watch factories Schwenningen am Neckar, Württemberg").

The watch shown is a very early wristwatch that still bears the characteristics of a pocket watch (e.g. lever next to the crown for the setting of the hands) and may have been produced around 1915. Already at that time the dials were fitted with luminous dots and also the hands were equipped with luminous.

The watch was advertised on a promotional sheet at the time of the first World War as follows:

Wichtige Mitteilung für alle, welche Angehörige u. Freunde im Felde stehen haben. Leutnant G. vom Füs.-Regt. 33 schreibt: „Keine Nacht im Feld oder Wache, in welcher mir meine Leuchtblattuhr nicht unschätzbare Dienste leistet; für jeden eine Entbehrung, der eine solche nicht besitzt, besonders auch für Verwundete.“

Jede Armeeuhr ist sorgfältig geprüft und reguliert und ist mit einem Garantieschein für zwei Jahre versehen.

The case of the watch is made of brass which was originally galvanized. The movement is a simple pin lever movement. The dial is made of lacquer paper.

Junghans managed to produce own wristwatches first after 1927.
