The watch reached me in an unfortunate condition: the steel bracelet was stuck to the lugs, the glue had also run over the ring that fixes the back.

The crown was missing and the winding stem was deeply broken in the case.

Unfortunately the previous owner had already tried to remove the back lid with brute force. The back cover was extremely dented, also the indentations for receiving the key to open it were completely worn out. There was no possibility to unscrew the rotating ring.

The glue could not be dissolved chemically either. The possibility to put the whole watch into the ultrasonic was impossible, because liquid would have penetrated the watch via the missing crown and thus destroyed the well preserved dial and hands.

Finally, I sent the watch to a watchmaker friend of mine, who drilled open the bezel in two places and was thus able to chisel it out.

Fortunately, the rest of the steel case was in good condition and after a long time of exposure to the ultrasound, the adhesive glue residues could be removed. The bezel was in a relatively good condition, hands and dial too.

On a first test, the movement did not start with a new battery. The plastic cover of the electronic block fell towards me, the holder was broken. Later, I found out, that the electronics had to be replaced.

After further disassembly, the remains of the winding stem could also be removed. The rest of the movement was fortunately in good condition and only needed cleaning.

With a new electronic block, the watcg started running immediately after cleaning and reassembly. The tube, which had to be removed when the screw ring of the back cover was removed, was replaced.

The bezel could be refixed without problems.

The outer back cover was halfway freed from its deep dents, the inner protective cover was replaced. The screw ring for fixing the rear cover of another Junghans electronic fitted and was used. Fortunately, when the old screw ring was removed, the thread in the case had hardly suffered and the screw ring could be screwed on without any problems.
